EasyPress Mini Heat Press Guide Banner

Updated: 2025  |

Quick Answer

The EasyPress Mini has three heat settings. Low (255 to 295°F) is for nylon and sensitive fabrics. Medium (300 to 355°F) works for most heat transfer vinyl on cotton, polyester, and blends. High (above 355°F) is for sublimation and infusible ink. Medium at 25 seconds is the correct starting point for most HTV projects.

The EasyPress Mini is a compact, handheld heat press from TeckWrap Craft designed for small and hard-to-reach areas. It works on shoes, hats, baby clothes, pockets, sleeves, stuffed animals, and anywhere a full-size heat press cannot reach. This guide covers the temperature and time settings for every Heat Transfer Vinyl type, a step-by-step pressing guide, tips for better results, and a troubleshooting section for the most common problems.

Important Pressing Notes

Always apply firm pressure when pressing. After the initial front press, flip the garment and re-press from the back for 10 to 15 seconds to strengthen the adhesive bond.

Exception: Do not flip and re-press Glow-in-the-Dark, Reflective, or Color-Changing HTV.

For sublimation: Set the temperature to High and press for 35 to 45 seconds with firm pressure.

What Do Low, Medium, and High Mean on the EasyPress Mini?

The EasyPress Mini does not display an exact temperature number. It uses three heat levels shown by light bars on the device. One bar is Low, two bars is Medium, three bars is High.

Setting Temperature (F) Temperature (C) Use For
Low 255 to 295°F 125 to 145°C Nylon and sensitive fabrics
Medium 300 to 355°F 150 to 180°C Most HTV types on cotton, blends, and polyester
High Above 355°F Above 180°C Sublimation and infusible ink only

EasyPress Mini Features

The TeckWrap Craft EasyPress Mini is a lightweight, portable heat press built for smaller projects and hard-to-reach areas. A full-size heat press cannot press the toe of a shoe, the curve of a hat brim, or the front of a pocket without pressing everything around it too. The EasyPress Mini handles all of these.

EasyPress Mini Features
1 Three Heat Settings
Low, Medium, and High settings shown by light bars. The indicator light turns orange while the machine heats and green when it reaches the target temperature. Heating up takes less than a minute.
2 Ceramic-Coated Heat Plate
The ceramic-coated heat plate distributes heat evenly from edge to edge across the pressing surface. This reduces the chance of hot spots that can scorch fabric or cause uneven adhesion at the edges of a design.
3 Auto Shutoff After 13 Minutes
After 13 minutes of no movement, the machine gives a warning beep before shutting off. This reduces electricity use and removes the risk of the press being left on accidentally. When not using the EasyPress Mini, rest it on its safety base.
4 Ergonomic Handle and Portability
The handle is shaped for a firm, comfortable grip during pressing. The compact size makes it easy to position over small design areas that a stationary press cannot reach. It also works with heat transfer paper and sublimation for small designs on compatible substrates.
No Built-in Timer

The EasyPress Mini does not have a built-in timer. You must track the press time yourself. Before you start, set a phone timer or keep a stopwatch handy. Pressing for the wrong amount of time is one of the most common reasons HTV does not bond correctly with this machine.

How to Use the EasyPress Mini: Step by Step

Complete your design in cutting software, cut the HTV, and weed out all excess vinyl before starting. Then follow these steps.

How to Use the EasyPress Mini: Step by Step
1 Pre-press the Garment
Place the garment on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Set the EasyPress Mini to the correct temperature using the table above and press the power button. While the machine heats up, press the garment for 3 to 5 seconds to remove any moisture and flatten creases. Moisture trapped in fabric during pressing causes poor adhesion.
2 Wait for the Green Light
The indicator light turns orange while the machine heats up. When it reaches the target temperature, it turns green. This takes less than a minute. Do not start pressing until the light is green.
3 Position the Design and Cover with Parchment Paper
Place the weeded HTV design on the garment with the carrier sheet facing up. Place a piece of parchment paper flat over the design. Parchment paper protects the vinyl from direct contact with the heat plate and helps distribute pressure evenly.
Tip: Use heat-resistant tape to hold the design in place if pressing on a curved surface or an area where the design might shift when you move the press.
4 Press the Design from the Front
Hold the EasyPress Mini firmly in place over the design and apply steady downward pressure for the time shown in the temperature table. Start the timer the moment the press touches the fabric. For most HTV types on cotton and polyester this is 25 seconds. For specialty types it is 30 seconds.
Tip: The EasyPress Mini has no built-in timer. Use a phone timer or stopwatch. Do not rely on counting in your head.
5 Flip and Press from the Back
Remove the parchment paper. Flip the garment so the back of the design area faces up. Press firmly from the back for 10 to 15 seconds. This back-press step strengthens the adhesive bond and is one of the most often skipped steps when HTV fails early. Skip this step only for Glow-in-the-Dark, Reflective, and Color-Changing HTV.
6 Remove the Carrier Sheet
TeckWrap Craft HTV is cold peel. Wait until the design has cooled completely before peeling. For hot peel HTV, remove the carrier sheet immediately while still warm. Peel slowly from one corner at a low angle, keeping the carrier sheet close to the surface of the design.
Tip: Check your HTV product label for peel type before pressing. Peeling at the wrong time is a common cause of the design lifting with the carrier sheet.
7 Check the Adhesion
Run a finger across the edges of the design once the carrier sheet is removed. The vinyl should feel completely flat against the fabric with no perceptible edge. If any area lifts slightly, place parchment paper back over it and re-press for 5 to 10 seconds before letting it cool again.

Tips for Better Results with the EasyPress Mini

Tips for Better Results with the EasyPress Mini
  • Always pre-press the garment. A quick 3 to 5 second pre-press removes moisture and creases. Moisture in fabric is a very common cause of HTV failing to bond, especially with the EasyPress Mini where press time is shorter than a stationary press.
  • Use a heat-resistant mat under the garment. A mat beneath the fabric protects the surface underneath and keeps the fabric stable. It also helps the heat transfer evenly from beneath.
  • Use heat-resistant tape to hold the design in place. Because you move the EasyPress Mini rather than keeping it stationary, the design can shift. A small strip of heat-resistant tape at each edge holds the design without affecting the transfer.
  • Set a timer before pressing. The EasyPress Mini has no built-in timer. Set your phone timer or use a stopwatch for every press. Guessing the time is not accurate enough for consistent results.
  • Rest the press on its safety base when not in use. The heat plate stays hot for several minutes after use. Always return the EasyPress Mini to its base between presses to prevent burns or surface damage.

Troubleshooting: Common EasyPress Mini Problems

Most EasyPress Mini problems have a straightforward cause. Here are the four most common issues and how to fix them.

Problem: HTV is not sticking to the fabric
Check three things: temperature, pressure, and fabric preparation. If the temperature is correct, the pressure may not be firm enough. The EasyPress Mini requires steady downward pressure held for the full press time. Partial contact or light pressure leaves sections unbonded. Also confirm the garment was pre-pressed to remove moisture before placing the design.
Problem: The design is peeling after washing
The two most common causes are washing too soon after pressing and skipping the back-press step. Wait 24 hours after pressing before the first wash. Turn the garment inside out and wash in cold water with mild detergent. If you skipped the back-press, re-press from the back for 10 to 15 seconds at the correct temperature, then wait 24 hours before washing.
Problem: The design is lifting at the edges
Edge lifting almost always comes from uneven pressure during pressing. If the design extends to an area where the press plate does not make full contact, those edges will not bond. Re-press specifically on the lifting edges with firm pressure. Also check that the design was not placed over a seam or button that prevented even contact.
Problem: The carrier sheet is pulling the design off when peeled
This means the adhesive has not fully bonded, usually because the press time was too short or the temperature was too low. Place the carrier sheet back down, cover with parchment paper, and re-press for another 10 seconds at the same temperature. Let it cool completely before trying to peel again. For TeckWrap Craft HTV, always wait until the design is fully cold before peeling.

What Can You Make with the EasyPress Mini?

The EasyPress Mini is best suited for items that are too small or curved for a standard heat press.

  • Shoes and canvas sneakers. Add custom designs to the side panels of canvas shoes. The compact press plate fits flat areas of shoe uppers that a standard press cannot reach. Cut individual design elements and press them in small sections.
  • Hats, caps, and visors. The EasyPress Mini presses designs onto hat panels where a flat press plate is too large to apply even pressure. Work on the flat front panel or on the brim depending on where the design sits.
  • Small garment details. Pockets, sleeves, collars, and areas around buttons and seams are difficult to press with a full-size machine. The compact EasyPress Mini handles these areas without pressing surrounding fabric.
  • Baby clothes and small items. Baby onesies, stuffed animals, tote bags, fanny packs, and other small or curved items fit well under the EasyPress Mini press plate. Use it to personalise gifts or create small-batch custom items.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Medium setting on the EasyPress Mini reaches 300 to 355 degrees F (150 to 180 degrees C). This range covers most heat transfer vinyl types applied to cotton, polyester, and poly-cotton blends. Medium at 25 seconds is the correct starting point for PU HTV, metallic HTV, and glitter HTV on most fabrics.
The EasyPress Mini works with cotton, polyester, poly-cotton blends, and nylon. For nylon, use the Low setting to avoid scorching. The machine also works with heat transfer paper and is suitable for sublimation on compatible substrates when set to High. Avoid highly textured or very stretchy fabrics as these reduce adhesion.
A regular heat press is stationary. You place the garment under the plate and close it for a set time. The EasyPress Mini is handheld. You move it over the design and hold it in place, making it better for small areas and curved surfaces. It requires you to track time manually since there is no built-in timer.
Yes. The EasyPress Mini is well suited for beginners. The three-setting temperature system is simpler than adjusting exact degrees on a digital heat press. The light system shows clearly when the machine has reached temperature. The main thing beginners need to remember is to use a separate timer since the machine does not have one.
Yes. Set the EasyPress Mini to High (above 355 degrees F) and press for 35 to 45 seconds with firm pressure on compatible sublimation substrates. This works for small sublimation projects. For larger sublimation projects, a full-size heat press gives more consistent results because it covers the whole design area in one press.
The EasyPress Mini works best on designs up to about 4 by 4 inches in a single press. Larger designs can be pressed in sections by moving the press across the design. For very large designs, a standard heat press gives better results because it covers the whole area with even pressure at once.
The EasyPress Mini reaches its target temperature in less than a minute. The indicator light turns orange when heating and green when ready. Wait for the green light before placing the design on the fabric.
No. The EasyPress Mini does not have a built-in timer. You must track the press time yourself using a phone timer or stopwatch. Pressing for too short a time is one of the most common reasons HTV does not adhere correctly when using this press.

Wrapping Up

The EasyPress Mini is a practical tool for any project where a full-size heat press cannot reach. Use Medium at 25 seconds for most HTV types on cotton and polyester. Use Low for nylon. Use High for sublimation. Always track the time with a separate timer, pre-press the garment before placing the design, and flip and press from the back for 10 to 15 seconds after the initial press.

Following these steps consistently produces a clean, long-lasting result from every press.
